Vietjet's non-stop flights to Ho Chi Minh City are seriously cheap right now if you're flexible with dates — I checked every day from October to June and one-ways are where the real savings are.

  • From Perth: $213 one-way on 18 Oct (also $222 in Feb), or grab the return for $412 if you're heading over late Nov to mid Dec
  • From Sydney: $257 out on 6 May + $201 home on 18 May = $458 total, beating the $478 return fare
  • From Melbourne: $260 out on 21 Apr + $209 home in May = $470, versus $483 for a return
  • From Brisbane: $273 out on 26 May + $213 home on 2 Jun = $486, saving you $51 off the $537 return

Just remember the cheapest Eco fare is carry-on only (7kg), you'll need a US$25 e-visa sorted about a week ahead, and Christmas prices skyrocket to $1,050+ — so avoid the school holidays. Fares this low don't stick around, so lock one in while they last.
